'Mewi', the name in itself, reflects the good will of the Almighty, the good doers of His will, the many prime movers who strive alongside and whose untiring hands reached out to give the touch in the making of the School.
Some very respectable and eminent peronalities like Shri Seyiekuolie Kesiezie, Shri Shürhozelie Liezietsu (former Chief Minister of Nagaland) and Shri Duosevi Kesiezie, all hailing from Kohima village, in their most profound wisdom gave the school its name 'Mewi', in Tenyidie language which translates to, 'Constant caring and moulding of something that is one's own'.
Mewi Higher Secondary School took form with clear objective of providing quality education based need, interest and capacity of every child. One of the objectives is to instill moral values and nurturing of every child with compassion and sincerity.
It was not by choice but by humble prayer and lucid indication from God, that the School was established in the year 1993.
Mewi Higher Secondary School aims to produce students with wholesome personalities who have critical awareness of their environment, who have sagacious viewpoint of the future and who will never lose their ethnic identity but hold their heads high and call themselves worthy sons and daughters of our land.
